At Privé, your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use prive.chat. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described here.

  • Profile information: bio, profile photo, gender, country, and interests.
  • Payment information: handled entirely by Paddle — we do not store card or bank details.
  • Messages and content you send through the Service.

  • Device and browser information (user agent, operating system).
  • IP address and approximate location (country level).
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration.
  • Online presence status (whether you are currently active on the platform).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing through Paddle.
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you about your account.
  • Send service-related notifications (we do not send marketing emails without your consent).
  • Detect and prevent fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a managed database platform with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or destruction.

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but will notify you promptly in the event of a breach that affects your data, as required by applicable law.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Authentication cookies — to keep you logged in securely.
  • Session cookies — to maintain your preferences during a browsing session.
  • Analytics — to understand how users interact with the Service (aggregated, non-identifiable data).

We do not use cookies for advertising or sell your data to advertisers. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may affect your ability to log in or use the Service.

5. Third-Party Services

We work with the following trusted third-party providers to deliver the Service:

Paddle

Our payment processor and Merchant of Record. Paddle handles all subscription billing, payment data, and tax compliance. When you subscribe, you enter into a payment agreement with Paddle. Please review Paddle's Privacy Policy.

Daily.co

Provides real-time video and voice infrastructure for session calls and live group rooms. Audio and video streams are processed by Daily.co. Please review Daily.co's Privacy Policy.

Supabase

Provides our database, authentication, and real-time infrastructure. Your account data and messages are stored on Supabase-managed servers. Please review Supabase's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability — request a machine-readable export of your data.
  • Objection — object to certain processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@prive.chat. We will respond within 30 days. You may also delete your account directly from your account settings, which will initiate data deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a user under 18, we will delete it promptly and terminate the account.
